Technical and Financial Assessment of Photovoltaic Solar Systems with Bifacial Technology Comparing Four Scenarios with Different Albedos with Respect to the Base Scenario with Monofacial Technology, in a Tropical Location in Colombia

In photovoltaic system installations worldwide, the use of bifacial technology has begun to be more frequent due reduction cost gap associated with manufacture modules compared monofacial, encouraged by technological maturation modules. This research focuses on assessing technical and financial viability a solar technology, comparing 4 scenarios different albedos (0.15, 0.2, 0.3 0.4) respect base scenario that uses monofacial was evaluated according three goodness criteria (NPV, IRR Payback Time), where only in albedo 0.4 were costs this land adaptation considered. The results indicate most technically financially viable is 0.4, an investment $ 37,872 MCOP (3.71% than scenario), energy generated per year 21,687 GWh/year (4.83% net present value $46,425 (8.42% internal rate return 18.31% (1.78% scenario) payback time 5.21 years (3.52% less scenario).
